ONE-ON-ONE / PRIVATE INSTRUCTION

Focused - Individualized - Linear Learning

While GRACIE JIU-JITSU ATHENS, AL® - STREET READY SELF DEFENSELLC prides itself on the quality of its group classes, some people prefer to learn in a private one-on-one setting. There are undoubtedly many benefits to learning Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in a private one-on-one setting. Private lessons enable the instructor to teach the lessons in a linear order which greatly optimizes learning.  It also allows the instructor to adapt techniques to suit an individual's specific physical attributes, limitations or personal strengths & weakness.

Private lessons typically begin with a review of previously learned techniques, followed by the introduction of a new technique or two. Once you demonstrate proficiency with the new techniques, you will begin to combine them with previously learned techniques in a series of "Reflex Development Drills". This process continues until you have mastered all the techniques in the module. All of our training programs are available in both group and private class format.

If you're eager to learn Gracie Jiu-Jitsu with maximum efficiency, private training is the way to go!

Learn at Your Own Pace: The group class programs are designed to help every student make the most of the group learning environment. If you're someone who learns faster (or slower) than others, private classes provide the perfect opportunity for you to learn at your own pace.

Individualized Teaching: Our group class programs are all built around a tightly structured curriculum for a specific demographic. In private classes, the instructor has the flexibility to operate outside the established structure and specific techniques of the group class programs to create a more personalized curriculum based on your unique attributes, strengths, and weaknesses to help you reach your training objectives in the least amount of time possible.

Linear Learning: The order in which you learn the techniques greatly affects how well you absorb and retain them as well as how long it takes you to master the art. In private sessions, the instructor is able to guide you through the techniques in a specific, linear progression, so that every new technique is explained in the context of all the previously learned techniques, while all the techniques learned continue to flow together, progressively and systematically.

Controlled Intensity: In any group class, you never know who you're going to be partnered with on any given day. In private classes, not only do you know exactly who you will be training with, but, you can rest assured that your instructor will always provide just the right amount of resistance and pressure for your particular skill level and physical abilities, enabling you to get the most benefit and maximize your growth.

Instant Feedback: In a group class, it’s simply impossible for the instructor to focus totally on every student, it’s possible to miss technical details during the presentation and it is also possible that your instructor will not always see your every move or be there to make every correction needed. To this end, the reality in any group class, is that you simply must rely on your training partners to help you master the techniques. In private lessons, your instructor is your partner for every technique, so they can physically feel all of your movements and provide instant feedback on every detail. There simply are no cracks to fall through with private lessons.

Mobile Learning: And, perhaps best of all, when it comes to personal training, if you can't come to us, *we can come to you!  (*Provided, of course, that you have mats and an area in which to train.)
